장현준 - FINDING A GOOD REASON TO RULE BY

5년 만의 새음반 ‘Finding a good reason to rule by’ 는 컨템포러리 재즈를 표방하였던 전작 ‘New Direction in action’ 과는 다르게 좀 더 자연스럽고 편안하게 이야기하려 한다는 점이 새롭다.
전체적으로 모던하고 차가운 질감의 사운드를 배제하였고 horn section의 구성으로 접근한 스윙과 서정적인 느낌의 오리지널에서는 따뜻함과 잘 짜여진 편곡의 치밀함을 동시에 엿볼 수 있다.
유일한 비밥 스타일의 타이틀곡 Finding a good reason to rule by 는 쌉싸름한 멜로디를 밴드 멤버들 간의 긴밀한 호흡으로표현하여 정통 재즈가 갖고 있는 고유의 매력을 잘 전달하고 있다. 또한 지난음반 새로운 편성과 밴드 멤버들의 완숙한 연주로 빛을 발하며 그 완성도를 더하였다.
힘든 작,편곡과 밴드 편성으로 제작된, 재즈 뮤지션 장현준의재능과 안목 보여주는 수작이라 할 수 있을 것이다.
